Harris Corporation’s STAT Guardian Vulnerability Management Suite Receives Common Criteria Certification

WEBWIRE

MELBOURNE, Florida August 3, 2006 — Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), a leading provider of network security solutions for more than 25 years, today announced that its computer vulnerability management product suite, STAT Guardian™ Vulnerability Management Suite (VMS) 6.4.0, has received Common Criteria (CC) certification from the Canadian Common Criteria Evaluation and Certification Scheme. CC certification is a critical requirement for commercial information security products purchased by the U.S. government for use in national security systems.

The CC certification is a globally accepted standard for evaluating the security features and capabilities of information technology products. It consists of several predetermined assurance levels that a vendor can choose to be tested against, each one more stringent than the previous. CC certifications are mutually accepted by all countries participating in the CC Recognition Arrangement (currently 24), including the U.S., Australia, Canada, and the U.K. through the National Information Assurance Partnership.

“CC certification of STAT Guardian VMS continues our leadership as a trusted IT security solutions provider,” said Rick Simonian, vice president of Homeland Security Programs for the Harris Government Communications Systems Division. “In 2003, STAT® Scanner Professional Version 5.08, was the first vulnerability assessment product in the industry to receive CC certification. The certification of our vulnerability management suite maintains assurance for our customers that our products meet the industry’s most stringent security requirements, giving them the utmost confidence in the security products they count on to protect their critical information.”

CC certification enables products to comply with the U.S. National Information Assurance Acquisition Policy 11, which requires security product vendors to undergo a rigorous standardized evaluation process to ensure their products meet strict guidelines, perform as advertised, and will not compromise national security. Following a successful evaluation conducted by an accredited, independent CC evaluation laboratory under the oversight of a national-level certification body, the product is added to the CC List of Evaluated Products.

STAT Guardian Vulnerability Management Suite (VMS) 6.4.0 was tested by Electronic Warfare Associates-Canada, Ltd. (EWA-Canada), which operates an independent third-party CC Evaluation Facility under the oversight of the Communications Security Establishment. “The CC certification of the STAT Guardian Vulnerability Management Suite is an important accomplishment for Harris because they have once again achieved an internationally recognized standard for information technology security products,” said Erin Connor, director of the EWA-Canada test lab. “Harris STAT Scanner Professional Versions 5.08, 5.11, 5.19.1 and 5.29.4 were previously certified under the CC. Achieving this latest certification demonstrates the Harris STAT group’s continuing commitment to providing high-quality, CC-certified security solutions to its customers through a suite of network management tools.”
