Geeks Rock Inc Announces First Event and Invites Fellow Geeks to Attend Present and Join
Geeks Rock invites all for its first event called Geeks Rock 1.
Geeks Rock Inc is a team of fun and dynamic individuals with never ending curiosity. The goal of Geeks Rock is to organize events where people can discuss game-changing ideas in a casual, easy and interactive manner. Imagine school “Journal Club” re-packaged as an Ignite event with discussion of new powerful ideas, free food and no grades to worry! If you have been to an Ignite event, we basically married Ignite with Journal Club to create something similar to a “Dead Poets Society” version of Geeks community!
Geeks Rock 1 is scheduled for October 10, 2013 6-7:30pm @ Pratt Free Library in Federal Hill in Baltimore. Free Food and Drinks will be provided.
If you would like to attend, present or join the Geeks Rock team, please feel free to send an email.

The basic idea behind Geeks Rock is simple. We believe that there are LOTS of interesting ideas that are constantly published in various magazines and journals, which can be shared and discussed in a casual “journal club” setting. We want people to share these interesting ideas in a LIVE 5-6 minute presentation. We want to take the structure and well-organized format of Ignite and apply it to journal club. To make Geeks Rock fun, useful and enjoyable experience, we have few basic principles for choosing articles and the format of presentation:
- An ideal article should be related to topics that are of broad interest and wide applicability
- Presenter should highlight the “idea” and why it is something we should all know about
- Presenter should also share their perspective on the “idea”
- Presentation time is limited to 5-6 minutes to focus only on the key messages
- Format is casual and interactive so that it is fun, easy and learning experience for all
