London, U.K. – “No Brainer,” the exciting new quiz show co-developed by TV Asahi Corporation and Warner Bros. International Television Production, has been produced by BlazHoffski in The Netherlands and will air later this month on BNN.

The ten episode series will air daily from August 19–30 in the 8pm primetime slot.

This is the first international commission of the format, which is based on the highly successful Japanese game show “Speed Kings.”

In this show every player has a price on their head. Four friends have taken a general knowledge test and have been ranked in order of intelligence. The least knowledgeable is worth the most cash for the team. The most knowledgeable, who in theory should have the best chance of getting an answer right, is worth five times less.

To win big, the whole team has to pull together throughout the various rounds in order to win the big cash prize.

Earlier this year, a pilot episode was produced by U.K. production company Wall to Wall (part of WBITVP’s Shed Media) to give the format a fully international flavor and there is a significant amount of interest from a variety of channels in the U.K. and elsewhere in the international market.

“‘No Brainer’ is a simple yet brilliant game show. We knew when we worked with TV Asahi to re-develop the rules and game play of the show that it would appeal to international audiences. We believe that BlazHoffski’s version will be the first of many produced outside of Japan,” commented Andrew Zein, Senior Vice President, Creative, Format Development and Sales, Warner Bros. International Television Production.

“We are very happy with this original game show. It is a good combination of fun and general knowledge, very accessible for a broad audience and a clever though simple format,” said Dan Blazer, Creative Director and Co-Founder, BlazHoffski.

TV Asahi and Warner Bros. International Television Production signed an agreement in 2012 to co-develop TV formats which have been produced and aired on TV Asahi.

Warner Bros. International Television Production:
Warner Bros. International Television Production (WBITVP) aims to establish or acquire production companies in the major television territories around the world in order to become a leading producer of local scripted and non-scripted programming.

In those territories where WBITVP establishes a production base, it operates by developing and producing original programming and also producing local versions of formats owned and controlled by the group such as “The Bachelor,” “The World’s Strictest Parents” and “Who Do You Think You Are?” Where WBITVP has no local production capability it licenses Warner Bros. formats to third parties.

WBITVP has taken significant steps by acquiring a majority stake in both U.K. production group Shed Media, one of the U.K.’s largest and most successful independent production companies which operates both in the U.K. and the U.S., and in BlazHoffski Holding B.V., a leading independent television producer in The Netherlands and Belgium.

BlazHoffski:
BlazHoffski Group is one of the leading creative producers in The Netherlands and Belgium, with award-winning formats in a broad range of genres: entertainment, reality, drama, comedy, commercials, documentaries and factual entertainment.

The BlazHoffski format catalogue includes hits such as “Hello Goodbye,” “Singer-Songwriter,” “Tower C,” “Mind Over Matter,” “Food CIA,” “Down with Johnny” and “Figure it Out.”

Since established in 1996 in Amsterdam by Dan Blazer and Erik van der Hoff, the BlazHoffski mission has been to create and deliver high quality formats. Since 2008, they have operated successfully in Belgium, managed by Geert Willems. The BlazHoffski Group is managed by CEO Dan Blazer.

TV Asahi Corporation:
TV Asahi, launched in 1959, is a major Japanese commercial broadcaster located in Tokyo, Japan. It has 25 local affiliate stations and 10 international bureaus that extend coverage across the world. TV Asahi is known as the central pillar of the Japanese largest Asahi Media Group, which includes The Asahi Shimbun (largest Japanese quality paper) and Toei (producer and distributor of movies, TV dramas and animation). TV Asahi operates three broadcasting services; Terrestrial (TV Asahi), Free satellite (BS Asahi) and Pay satellite (TV Asahi channel and Asahi Newstar), and has been listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, 1st Section Market since 2000.

TV Asahi is highly recognized for its well-balanced programming with a good mixture of news, infotainment, animation, and entertainment, to ensure constantly high ratings and revenues.

In the international arena, TV Asahi’s dramas, animation, and entertainment shows have been distributed throughout the entire world. In 2005, TV Asahi steps into the TV format business, and made great progress in the European market with titles such as “Ranking the Stars” and “Fidelity Test” (both from London Hearts). TV Asahi continues to accelerate its sales by developing new formats and exploiting new business models to reach the international markets.
