The Institute for Safety and Health Management (ISHM) works with colleges and universities to educate students about special safety certification programs.

The Institute for Safety and Health Management recently unveiled safety certification programs tailored for recent college graduates entering the profession.   The ISHM administers the internationally recognized Certified Safety and Health Manager (CSHM) certification and the Associate Safety and Health Manager (ASHM) and Certified Safety Management Practitioner (CSMP) programs for safety professionals and safety managers.

ISHM is offering two unique programs to help recent additions to the safety profession become certified in their field. Recent graduates of ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) accredited college and university programs and those from  ISHM Board approved bachelors and higher education programs now have two special programs tailored to their needs.

Qualified graduates now have the opportunity to apply for the Associate Safety and Health Manager (ASHM) program with no application fee and a streamlined application process.  ISHM is also reducing the 5 years of experience required to sit for the Certified Safety and Health Manager certification to just 2 years for those that qualify.

The ISHM has been working to inform school administrators, teachers and career guidance professionals about these exceptional programs that can help jumpstart a graduate’s career by opening opportunities and increasing their value in the workplace.  “We all know how competitive the job market can be, especially for recent college graduates,” reported Larry Curtis, CSHM, Executive Director of ISHM.  “People who have earned an internationally recognized certification are in higher demand and have positioned themselves above others competing for positions who have not pursued certification.”

Job applicants who have earned one of the ISHM’s certifications in safety management are highly sought after by both industry and government institutions.  Today, HR professionals rely on the ISHM’s CSHM, ASHM and CSMP designations to identify qualified candidates to fill critical safety and health management positions.
