easyJet and UKTI team up for trade mission to Moscow

North West companies are invited to join a UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) Trade mission to Moscow, in association with easyJet.

Russia is the UK’s fastest-growing major export market, and the fourth largest outside Europe, China and North America.

The Russian government’s economic modernisation and infrastructure development agenda means there are many commercial opportunities to export both goods and services across a range of sectors.

The visit takes places from 24 – 28 November, and participants will benefit from the support of a knowledgeable visit leader, market and sector briefings before, during and after the trip and help identifying potential customers and partners. There may be financial support available for eligible North West companies.

UK exports to Russia in 2012 increased by 15% from 2011 and equalled £5.5 billion. Since 2001 trade between the UK and Russia has been growing by an average of 21% year on year.

Ruth Spratt, Head of UK sales for easyJet, said: “With four easyJet flights per week between Moscow and Manchester, it has never been more easy or affordable to do business in Russia. We are committed to supporting small and medium enterprises and are pleased to support UKTI on our second joint trade mission to Moscow this year. Trade missions provide a framework of support and advice for businesses of all sizes keen to establish themselves in a new market and offer clear benefits for businesses in the UK and Russia.”

Clive Drinkwater, Regional Director, UKTI North West says, "The drive to increase exports is something that we in the North West are very serious about, and I am challenging the region’s businesses to help me find 1000 new exporters this year – not just companies exporting for the first time but also SMEs looking to expand from the traditional starter markets of Western Europe to more adventurous markets such as Russia.

“Russia is one of the world’s emerging economies, fuelled by high growth and bolstered by a growing middle class with increased spending power, and is an attractive market for North West exporters with the right product or service. Trade missions such as this one are an ideal opportunity for companies to harness the experience of a knowledgeable and skilled international trade team to help really make the most of the commercial opportunities available. I would encourage any companies who are interested to call the UKTI North West team to find out more.”
