IDG’s Computerworld ranks AT&T in the top 50 Best Places to Work for its excellence and quality of the IT workplace; AT&T ranks in the top 10 for diversity

Dallas, Texas,

IDG’s Computerworld has once again named AT&T* as one of the 100 Best Places to Work in Information Technology (IT), ranking within the list’s top 50 companies. Building on the foundation that landed the company on the 2012 list, the recent recognition reflects AT&T’s continued dedication to enhancing the environment it provides to IT employees through increased opportunities for development and empowerment.

After thoroughly examining a company’s offerings – such as benefits, career development, diversity, training and more – as well as extensively surveying IT employees, Computerworld selects the top 100 work environments for technology professionals.

“Providing employees with a great place to work is one of our top priorities,” said Thaddeus Arroyo, CIO, AT&T. “With an open pipeline for communication and feedback, we regularly modify the workplace environment and offerings to better match the needs of our employees. Validating our efforts, we are honored to have once again secured a place on Computerworld’s prestigious list of Best Places to Work in IT.”

Listening to employee feedback, AT&T’s IT organization defined strategic technology roles, identified the future skills those roles require, and implemented personalized training paths for self-development. The learning platform enables employees to conduct role-based training, assess requirements to reach the next proficiency level, identify targeted mentoring opportunities for advancement, and more. In 2012, AT&T IT employees completed more than 545,000 hours of training and self-development activities.

“We applaud the organizations on the Best Places to Work in IT list for creating and sustaining dynamic IT work environments,” said Scot Finnie, editor in chief of Computerworld. “This year, several new names have joined the stalwarts that make the list year after year. It’s clear that the best IT workplaces are constantly raising the bar with great benefits, new learning opportunities, access to cutting-edge technologies and challenging business-critical projects.”

In addition to being named one of the 100 Best Places to Work in IT, AT&T also ranked sixth on the list for diversity in the IT workplace.
