WASHINGTON — National Geographic magazine will be translated, published and distributed in Taiwan by local publisher Boulder Publishing, a subsidiary of IDG, it was announced today. The new edition, debuting with the September issue, will be published in Chinese (traditional characters). For the first time, IDG will also make the magazine available to Chinese readers in Taiwan, Hong Kong and elsewhere as an e-edition for iOS devices.

A pilot issue of the print magazine, at a discount price of NT$99 (approximately US$3.21), will be on the shelves of all magazine retail channels starting July 25. The magazine will officially launch in September as a monthly magazine, with initial circulation of 80,000, available for NT$200 (approximately US$6.67). Yungshih Lee will serve as editor-in-chief.
