WXC Application Acceleration Platforms Help Sublime Optimize Trans-Pacific Links

SUNNYVALE, Calif., August 2, 2006 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) today announced that Sublime, a New Zealand-based document management agency, has deployed Juniper Networks WXC application acceleration platforms to optimize WAN links between its Auckland headquarters and its data center in Fiji.

“The WXC platforms are business enablers,” said Cowan Pettigrew, Sublime’s chief executive officer. “We use them to leverage the cost efficiencies of a data center in Fiji without compromising traffic performance or network security. In fact, thanks to the Juniper solution, we have faster and more secure overseas WAN connectivity than an unaccelerated domestic link.”

Sublime manages documents for businesses ranging from law firms to medical and trading companies that have large volumes of physical paperwork to process and store. The company digitizes its clients’ document workflow, scanning copies of sales invoices, legal papers and other paper documents which are then hosted in Sublime’s data center in Fiji. Clients use a Web-based interface to access and manage their documents.

“We streamline inefficient workflows,” said Pettigrew. “Manual handling of paper is costly in time and effort and also prone to human error. To provide a top-quality service to our clients at a reasonable rate, we minimized costs by building a data center in Fiji, which has a lower cost of business. The WXC application acceleration platforms help make this model viable by cutting data transmission costs and data receipt times.”

The Juniper Networks WXC platforms provide distributed enterprises with a scalable approach to accelerating application delivery over the WAN. Based on the integrated WX Framework, which delivers all the elements needed to accelerate applications and optimize WAN performance, the WXC platforms help businesses improve application response times, maximize WAN investments, and control and prioritize key applications.

Sublime’s WXC platform uses the Network Sequence Caching feature to eliminate repetitive data sequences, dramatically reducing WAN traffic volumes and speeding the transfer of large files over wide-area links. The WXC platform’s built-in hard drive supplies the storage capacity needed to store long data sequences for long periods of time, enabling up to 100-fold increases in WAN capacity. The WXC platforms also constantly communicate, exchanging vital information such as topology, accessibility, and path-performance metrics to ensure the most efficient performance possible.

“Working with Infinity Solutions to deploy the WXC appliances earlier this year, we discovered that network efficiency soared 33 percent when the acceleration features were activated,” said Pettigrew. “We also liked the easy set-up and Juniper’s WX Central Management SystemTM (WX CMSTM), which provides visibility into WAN traffic, strengthening our security posture.”

“The WXC platform is benefiting both Sublime and its clients,” said Michael Paul, who heads up New Zealand channel sales for Juniper Networks. “The WXC platform is not so much a network packet accelerator as a business advantage enabler, allowing innovative enterprises such as Sublime to grow quickly by strategically leveraging cost-effective resources.”
