Cross Match Technologies to discuss role of human – machine interface in fingerprinting at IAI Conference
Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. - Cross Match Technologies’ livescan product leader, Roberto Wolfer, is scheduled to speak at this year’s IAI Conference in Rhode Island, Monday, August 5th at 4:30pm. Mr. Wolfer will address the role of intelligent human – machine interface and its impact on fingerprint capture speed, accuracy and comfort.
Today fingerprints are taken not only for criminal identification purposes, but for a wide variety of civil uses such as border crossings, elections, ID cards, and financial transactions. Whereas in law enforcement the capture process is done by dedicated and specially trained experts, civil systems typically utilize administrative personnel or even the applicant himself to execute the capture.
Mr. Wolfer explains how intelligent technology can guide operators and users through the fingerprint capture process, avoiding typical capture mistakes without any specialized training required. He will demonstrate how automated quality assessment leads to fingerprints with consistently high image quality compared to human-based quality assessment approach.
In addition, the ongoing development of new standards for global harmonization of feedback elements and biometric symbols will be discussed and how this will lead to lower failure-to-enroll rates regardless of who captures the fingerprint.
Mr. Wolfer has been working in biometrics for 8 years and holds engineering degrees in Medical Engineering from Applied University of Jena and a post-gradual degree in Intellectual Property from Technical University of Berlin.
