Atos Smart Grid Suite Optimized for Speed and Reliability on Oracle Exadata Database Machine and Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud

Paris

Atos Worldgrid, an international subsidiary of Atos, today announced it has strengthened its Atos Smart Grid Suite (ASGS) by achieving Oracle Exadata Optimized and Oracle Exalogic Optimized status through Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN). This demonstrates that the latest Atos Smart Grid Suite version 3.0 has been tested and tuned with Oracle Exadata Database Machine and Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud to deliver speed, scalability and reliability to utility customers worldwide. Additionally, Atos Smart Grid Suite version 3.0 has been tested and supports Oracle Linux. Atos Worldgrid is a Platinum level member in Oracle PartnerNetwork.

Atos Worldgrid is a unique player in smart energy and offers sophisticated integration projects and real time Smart Energy solutions to Energy & Utilities companies across the power, water, oil & gas value chains. ASGS is a solution which allows the customer to operate successfully energy grid and to jump toward smarter system and services required by forthcoming needs. ASGS strengths come from its modular and flexible framework which offers building solutions tailored for the future needs in sync with the existing environment.

ASGS offers a scalable architecture which enables the management of an ever growing volume of data, as well as millions of connected devices, without degrading performance, allowing customers to scale their investment in accordance with the device rollout and extension of the grid control. With Oracle Exadata and Oracle Exalogic, ASGS can process the daily collection of 60 million meters in under 4 hours using only a half rack Oracle Exadata, which is6.8 times faster and four times the volume compared to prior benchmarks which could not load more than 15 million meters. Additionally, this combination can manage the execution of more than 200,000 processes in 1 hour for 40 million meters using only a quarter rack Oracle Exalogic, and showed 10 times greater compression of historical data using Oracle Exadata Hybrid Columnar Compression (HCC). These results allow for a high performance platform, optimal resource utilization and a different approach to grid management.

Oracle Exadata Optimized and Oracle Exalogic Optimized are part of the Oracle Exastack Optimized program which allows partners, such as Atos Worldgrid, to leverage OPN enablement resources and dedicated lab environments to help develop, test and tune their applications on Oracle Exadata, Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud, and Oracle SuperCluster engineered systems.

The Oracle Exadata delivers extreme performance and is the ideal database platform for OLTP applications, data warehouses as well as the varied and unpredictable workloads of cloud computing. It is a complete package of servers, storage, networking, and software that is massively scalable, secure and redundant.

Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud is hardware and software engineered together to provide extreme performance, reliability and scalability for Oracle, Java and other business applications, while delivering lower TCO, reduced risk, higher user productivity and one-stop support.

“By optimizing the Atos Smart Grid Suite with Oracle Exadata and Oracle Exalogic, it is ready to process the daily collection of over 60 million meters on a half rack, and a full rack could store more than 130 billion data records. Atos Worldgrid offers utility companies a solution that anticipates their future needs in a market where volumes are increasing rapidly”, said Franck Chevalley, Smart Utilities Global Product Line Manager at Atos Worldgrid.

“Oracle Exastack Optimized recognizes partners who have optimized their solutions on a complete, integrated and cloud-ready infrastructure in order to help them accelerate innovation, unlock new features and functionality, and deliver superior value to users,” said Chris Baker, Senior Vice President, Worldwide ISV and OEM Sales, Oracle. “The increasing value of device to datacenter processes, as well as volume of data, means that storing, managing, securing and analyzing data from connected devices is becoming mission critical within organizations. Atos Worldgrid has demonstrated that its Atos Smart Grid Suite, version 3.0 is tested and tuned to work with Oracle Exadata Database Machine and Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud to help deliver optimum performance, scalability, and reliability to their customers.”
