TOKYO - Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (TOKYO: 6503) announced today that subsidiary Mitsubishi Electric Air Conditioning Systems Europe Ltd. (M-ACE) has established a mock-house facility to test heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) products in Scotland, UK. The company, celebrating its 20th anniversary of HVAC production, will utilize the facility to support business expansion in Europe.
The purpose of the 700,000-pound facility is to collect, analyze and evaluate real life data that will be used to develop and optimize HVAC products for the European market. It consists of two houses similar to those commonly found in the UK and a control room. The houses are identical two-story, three-room structures with 60.23 sq. m. building areas and 94.6 sq. m. floor areas. A total of 1,400 monitoring sensors are installed in the two houses to measure temperature, humidity and equipment operation. A boiler-type water heating system is installed in one house and a heat-pump system is installed in the other.

M-ACE and the UK Branch of Mitsubishi Electric R&D Centre Europe, B.V. (MERCE UK) collaborate in the research & development, production and marketing of heat-pump technologies and products for Mitsubishi Electricís HVAC business in Europe. Including the test facility, Mitsubishi Electric, M-ACE, and MERCE UK plan to invest about 20 million pounds and hire 100 additional employees over the next three years to strengthen business in Europe.
