The Dental Law Partnership has enjoyed further success for victims of dental negligence after securing £20,000 in dental compensation for a client who endured 7 years of gum disease.

The client, a 55 year old woman from the East of England, lost several teeth as a result of untreated gum disease and sought help from the specialist law firm Dental Law Partnership to claim compensation from two dental professionals who failed to address the problem.

The client visited the first defendant dentist between 1990 and 2001 and received regular examinations and scale and polishes. From 2002 until 2009 she visited the second defendant, also for regular checkups and scale and polishes, but it wasn’t until she was referred to a dental specialist regarding the health of specific upper and lower teeth that the client discovered that she was suffering from the advanced stages of gum disease.

Her condition meant that her front teeth were loose and she now spoke with a lisp.
As a result of the combined failure of two dentists to diagnose her gum disease and provide treatment, over eighteen years, Dental Law’s client lost three front top teeth and will lose five more teeth in the future. She has had to have extensive remedial treatment to treat the gum disease and suffered the pain and discomfort of implant treatment to replace the lost teeth.

While neither dentist admitted liability for their inadequate care, the Dental Law Partnership and their client were able to bring a successful claim against them. She received £20,000 in an out of court settlement.

Speaking after the decision, she said “I cannot believe my gum disease was left untreated for so many years but I am pleased with the assistance provided by the Dental Law Partnership in recovering the money required to pay for my remedial treatment”.
