In a highly anticipated event all across Spain, the fixture list for the 2013/2014 Spanish League was drawn last week when it was revealed which teams would play when. And Simply Barcelona Tickets has just updated their website so that fans can now buy tickets for the forthcoming season.

The biggest matches are called known as “el clasico”, which are played between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. This year they are scheduled for the end of October at the Nou Camp, with the return leg in March at the Bernabeu.

Prior to the season kicking off, Barcelona will embark on a customary series of friendlies, before facing Santos in the Gamper Trophy on 2nd August and then heading to the Far East for a short tour.

David Leigh of Simply Barcelona Tickets says, “like many other people I can’t wait for the season to start, although it won’t be an easy start for Barcelona. Although Spain is still in a real mess economically, Barcelona has been fairly resistant due to the huge number of tourists and demand for tickets at the Nou Camp remains as strong as ever - I don’t see any reason for that to change for the forthcoming season.”

Barcelona’s first league match will take place on the weekend of 17/18 August when Levante visits the Nou Camp, and at the end of August the Catalans must play Atletico Madrid in the Spanish Supercup, a competition played in two legs between the winners of the league and the Copa del Rey.

The season will be the second with Tito Vilanova in charge, although the past season was overshadowed by him requiring to take time out to receive treatment for cancer in New York. Hopefully that is all in the past now and he will be able to lead his squad through the entire season and expand on the single trophy won in the 2012/13 season.

While Lionel Messi continues to display the incredible footwork that makes seeing him play such as joy to watch, the squad sees several changes to their line up. Eric Abidal and David Villa have left the team, while gifted Brazilan player Neymar has been signed to solidify the core of the team and help them continue at the highest level of football.
