Selection of Clarity Healthcare for NRRS™ Unites Multi-site Program and Supports Wait Time Analysis Initiative

Toronto, August 1, 2006 - Consulting Cadre International, providers of the Clarity Healthcare Solution™ for complex continuing and long-term care providers as well as rehab and mental health institutions, today announced that Hamilton Health Sciences has implemented Clarity Healthcare for NRRS to create a single, web-based integrated solution for it’s Rehabilitation Program.

Hamilton Health Sciences is one of the most comprehensive health care systems in Canada, consisting of five unique hospitals and a cancer centre, serving more than 2.3 million residents of Hamilton and Central South and Central West Ontario. The multi-site institution, with 149 rehab beds at Hamilton General Hospital, Henderson General Hospital and Chedoke Hospital, has been reporting NRS (National Rehab Reporting System) data to CIHI since 2001 using an original system developed with three separate databases - one for each reporting facility. Clinicians and management identified needs for a comprehensive, integrated system that could provide real time information to assist clinicians with patient assessments and care, as well as provide availability of real time reports to management.

With Clarity Heathcare for NRRS, Hamilton Health Sciences now has a web-based solution with a single user interface and a central database that integrates all three sites. “Clarity Healthcare for NRRS gives us clinically relevant information on each clinical unit,” states Barb Ansley, Coordinator of Research and Program Evaluation for the Rehabilitation Program at Hamilton Health Sciences, “and assessment data can be handled easily in real-time by the clinicians. We’re also using the Clarity Healthcare WebForms™ tool to augment data collection that our program needs to track wait times and maintain appropriate wait lists for our programs. – We expect this to make a difference in helping to reduce those wait times for patients”.
