MELBOURNE, Florida, August 1, 2006 — Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) today announced that its mentor-protégé program with Avineon, Inc., has been approved by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization. The DHS Mentor-Protégé program is designed to encourage large, established prime contractors to help further develop the technical and management capabilities of small, disadvantaged businesses. Avineon is the first participant in the Harris small-business mentor-protégé program with the DHS.

“We are very pleased to receive this approval from the DHS, which further enhances an already great relationship that Harris has with Avineon,” said Rick Simonian, vice president of Homeland Security Programs, Harris Government Communications Systems Division. “In 2004, Avineon received the Harris Small Business Supplier-of-the-Year Award for its outstanding work in support of our U.S. Census Bureau programs. We recognized that their expertise in federal government software and system solutions would be beneficial to the DHS, and the DHS Mentor-Protégé program is an ideal way to create a win-win situation that offers opportunities for growth between the two companies.”

Under the three-year program, Harris will assist Avineon in competing for contract awards and other related business opportunities with the DHS. Harris also will provide training for Avineon employees on program management and business acquisition processes, and will support Avineon’s process improvement initiatives to attain Capability Maturity Model® Integration (CMMI) Level 4.

“We are excited about the opportunity to jointly pursue opportunities at DHS with Harris and to benefit from the experience of a successful prime contractor,” said Charles Erdrich, Avineon’s vice president of Business Development. “Harris has a great reputation for providing high-quality products and services in support of national security. This agreement will enable us to strengthen and solidify our business relationship with one of the premier communications and technology companies in the U.S. federal government sector.”

The DHS Mentor-Protégé program is designed to motivate and encourage large-business prime contractors to provide mutually beneficial developmental assistance to small business, veteran-owned small business, and women-owned small business concerns. The program is also designed to improve the performance of DHS contracts and subcontracts, foster the establishment of long-term business relationships between DHS large prime contractors and small business subcontractors, and strengthen subcontracting opportunities and accomplishments at the DHS.
