ProvenSustainable.com Adds Building Programs to its Certification Center

ATLANTA, Georgia (July 16, 2013) – ProvenSustainable strengthens its Certification Center by adding Green Building Programs to its repertoire. Green building programs play an important role in sustainability – helping guide and push the movement forward. However, with a plethora of building programs in the marketplace, it can be a challenge to understand the impact they have on homes, offices, schools, or even hospitals.

“Green building programs are important for all audiences to understand,” says Brian Mueller, director of business development, “as each program uses a specific type of rating system that can produce different desired results. However, each program does address elements of site planning, energy and water efficiency, indoor environmental health, waste/recycle management, and resource efficiency,” continued Mueller.

The Green Building Programs section focuses on a few key rating systems: CHPS (Collaborative for High Performance Schools), EarthCraft, Energy Star, Green Globes, LEED (Leadership for Energy and Environmental Design), and NAHB (National Association for Home Builders). Some of the programs, such as LEED and Energy Star, are applicable for multiple environments, whereas CHPS is specifically designed for schools.

“The Certification Center already contained valuable information about the different types of programs, certifications, and organizations in relation to green products, but we were missing the building component,“ said Mueller. “The addition of the Green Building Programs section helps us round out the Certification Center and continue our mission of being a one-stop resource for the green product marketplace.”

The Certification Center is an intergral part of ProvenSustainable – serving as a resource for consumers and professionals who need practical information about environmental certifications, organizations, and eco-labels. The Certification Center consists of seven sections; Eco-Labels, Environmental Certifications, Green Claim Validations, Product Declarations/ EPDs, Certification Organizations, and now, Green Building Programs. Each of these sections includes an overall description of the particular section and full menu of corresponding certifications, validations, declarations, organizations, or programs.
