Avella Specialty Pharmacy Partners with CareSpeak to Offer Patients Medication Reminders via Text Messaging

Phoenix, AZ - (NewMediaWire) - June 25, 2013 - Avella Specialty Pharmacy has announced it is now offering its patients the mobile Health managerTM ;(mHm) service, a two-way text messages based, patient engagement platform, designed to help patients be more adherent to their medication therapies.

This mobile technology allows us to help improve medication adherence. Patients who register for this mobile service receive text messages when it is time to take their medications, and confirm their medication intake by responding back with a unique code. If patients do not respond within the allotted time (typically 30 minutes), designated caregivers receive escalation text messages so they can contact their loved ones.

The mHm platform provides the ability to schedule alerts for a variety of therapy regimens including time, frequency, dosing information and more. It also sends reminder alerts for prescription renewals to patients and caregivers (optional). Adherence calendars are available online to manage patient compliance.

In addition, patients can journal their daily symptoms via text messaging, receive educational messages tailored to their specific needs and obtain weekly feedback texts on their adherence progress. An Avella pharmacist receives weekly e-mail notifications informing them of low adherence patients so they can take appropriate action.
