Lucent Technologies Supports Lockheed Martin Team Selected for Final Phase of Integrated Wireless Network Competition

Lucent leverages extensive communications and wireless capabilities as a member of Lockheed Martin-led team

JULY 31, 2006, MURRAY HILL, N.J. -- Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU) today announced it is part of the Lockheed Martin-led team that is competing in the final phase of the selection for the multi-billion dollar Integrated Wireless Network (IWN) contract.

The IWN program is sponsored by the Departments of Justice, Homeland Security and Treasury. It will be implemented under an Indefinite Quantity/Indefinite Delivery (IDIQ) contract that focuses on improving national wireless communications among federal law enforcement agencies with coverage in the continental U.S. and U.S. territories.

The IWN project will provide more than 80,000 federal law enforcement users with a secure and highly reliable wireless communications network featuring voice, data and multimedia capabilities. In addition, it will foster interoperability between federal agencies and state, local and tribal public safety and Homeland Security entities.
