AUSTIN, Texas – Shoppers can now save up to $200 per year at Whole Foods Market® with a few quick finger taps, thanks to Whole Planet Foundation and BlueAvocado’s free, updated “Make Change, Not Waste” iPhone application.
Designed to inspire greener lifestyles, the app rewards users with coupons for making simple eco-conscious choices like recycling or biking to work. The updated app, which is now available for download at the iTunes store, will allow shoppers to unlock coupons from top brands such as Alexia Foods, Allegro Coffee Company, Garden of Life, IZZE, Naked Juice, Stonyfield, TruRoots and more.
“The most inspiring part about this app is that shoppers are not only making better choices for the planet, they’re sharing their rewards with others around the globe,” said Philip Sansone, president and executive director of Whole Planet Foundation.
After earning a coupon, shoppers can use it or donate a percentage of its value to Whole Planet Foundation to fund global poverty alleviation. Since the app’s launch in April 2012, users have donated more than 50 percent of their coupons to the foundation.
Named Wired magazine’s “top lifestyle app” shortly after its launch, “Make Change, Not Waste” has been downloaded more than 5,000 times, and its users have logged more than 300,000 green actions. Currently, more than 500 users are consistently logging five or more activities per week.
