Three innovative applications recognised by the Orange Prime Zone Cup
With the Prime Zone Cup, Orange gives its developers and their creativity centre stage. For this 2nd edition, three of the most innovative mobile applications available on the "Orange Labs Prime Zone" site were recognised.
The Orange Prime Zone Cup is an annual competition open to the Group’s developers. The participants submit new usage-oriented applications which fall outside the scope of their routine work and which employ new technologies. In each category, the top prize is awarded to the application downloaded most often by the public from the platform of their choice in the 20 days after its release.
The winning applications from the 2013 edition:
• “mobile application for Orange customers” category
TV Controller: this app allows users to control and play with the Orange set-top box using their smartphone. It is compatible with Livebox Play and the new Orange TV.
• “mobile application for any user” category
Stream That Song: did you hear a track on the radio or TV? In a matter of seconds, this mobile app finds the name of the song, the artist or group and the album. The Deezer app then opens automatically, so you can listen to the selected titles.
• “mobile application for business customers” category
My Pro Video: (only available for Android) the app makes video montages by automatically combining videos and photos on a smartphone. My Pro Video sends the files to its montage server (in the cloud), which makes the video sequences and saves them at a Dailymotion link. It is then very easy to post this link on social networking sites and send it to your contacts by email and text message.
Orange Labs Prime Zone, the site for innovative applications from Orange developers
The Orange Labs Prime Zone site, http://primezone.orange-labs.com, gives all internet users, whether or not they are Orange customers, the chance to download free mobile applications designed by Orange developers from conventional app stores (iTunes store, Google Play, Windows Phone Market). Internet users can thus explore innovative applications, post their first impressions, and suggest functional and technical improvements. They can also put questions directly to the teams behind the applications on the site.
Developers: crucial experts for Orange
The role of developer is essential to enable Orange’s businesses to continue to innovate, offer new services and make them easier to use, but also manage customer relations and build platforms which support the Group’s existing and future services. It’s a role which really sets us apart from our rivals and drives growth in the different markets in which the Group operates. The Prime Zone Cup is an additional source of motivation which energises the community of Orange developers. With this competition, Orange is looking to capitalise on its developers’ expertise and creativity.
