Amsterdam Airport Schiphol came first for the fourth time running in the ’more than 25 million passengers’ category of the 2013 ACI EUROPE Best Airport awards.

Jos Nijhuis, President & CEO of Schiphol Group, received the award at the ACI EUROPE Annual General Assembly in Istanbul.

A jury of independent experts praised Schiphol as an airport that offers excellent services and facilities, with a special focus on corporate responsibility and consideration for sustainability, the local surroundings and the environment in general. This year Amsterdam Airport Schiphol shares its first prize with London Heathrow.

Schiphol also won this award in 2009, 2011 and 2012. ’We are very proud to have been granted this award for the fourth time,’ says President & CEO Jos Nijhuis. ’We owe this honour in part to our home carrier KLM and its dense network, which spans the entire globe. We believe this award reflects the success of our efforts to be and to remain Europe’s preferred airport. The next few years will see further investments in capacity and quality at Schiphol to help us maintain our leading position in Europe.’

Earlier this year Schiphol also had the honour of receiving the Skytrax Award for Europe’s Best Airport.
