MCS, the rental software supplier, celebrates 30 years of success

Rental software provider MCS is celebrating its thirtieth year. The anniversary will be marked by a number of incentives and events for customers in the UK hire industry and internationally.
 
Chairman and founder Richard van der Knaap, who established the business back in 1983, says: “We are delighted that over 500 customers in 15 countries will be sharing in the celebrations. For any business, three decades of success would be quite a milestone, but in the fast-paced, constantly evolving software industry, reaching this landmark anniversary is a significant achievement and one of which we can be justifiably proud.”
 
Among the many long-standing MCS customers is Nick Payne of Rapid Climate Control who has been using MCS software solutions since the 1980s. He says: “MCS has always been ready to invest in research and development over the years and more often than not has been first to market. New functionality is regularly incorporated and we can rely on the software supporting our business to keep us ahead of the game.”
 
In line with changing industry requirements, MCS hire management software has progressed from the original Unix-based version, to MCS-rm, its present day Microsoft .NET software solution, which is also available as a fully managed cloud based solution. Customer feedback and an active and independent user group also contribute to product development.
 
Commenting on one recent innovation, Richard van der Knaap says: “Our customers expect to be able to access data when and where it’s needed, so we were one of the first to offer a mobile product suite and a complete set of web-enabled applications for accessing data through mobile devices. This enables remote hire staff and those on the move to profitably provide enhanced customer service.”
 
Richard concludes: “Success is due to a winning combination of tried and tested solutions and our commitment to innovation. From the start, we understood the dynamics of our core marketplace, produced what our customers needed, collaborated with industry partners and adapted our solutions to the evolving needs of the rental industry.
