HP Achieves FedRAMP JAB Security Authorization for Managed Cloud Services for U.S. Government Clients Offering

PALO ALTO, Calif. - HP Enterprise Services today announced that the Joint Authorization Board (JAB) of the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP℠) has granted HP Enterprise Cloud Services – Virtual Private Cloud (ECS-VPC) for U.S. Public Sector a provisional Authority to Operate (pATO).

FedRAMP is a U.S. government-wide program that provides a streamlined approach to accelerating security assessments, authorizations and the adoption of cloud solutions enabling time, resource and cost savings for agencies. The FedRAMP JAB pATO represents the most rigorous standard for cloud service provider security as three of the largest federal agencies have scrutinized and provisionally authorized HP’s compliance with FedRAMP standards. Any agency can leverage HP’s pATO and grant its own ATO without conducting duplicative assessments.

HP ECS-VPC for U.S. Public Sector provides government agencies with consumption-based managed cloud services, designed for enterprise-grade workloads and high levels of availability and security. HP offers clients an Infrastructure as a Service that can be managed by the requesting government agency or HP. With this authorization, government agencies can be confident that HP provides the full National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Risk Management Framework, allowing clients to rapidly build on a proven compliant platform that is fully managed and continuously monitored by HP.

“The high sensitivity of the data stored in the cloud requires government CIOs and IT managers to adopt cloud solutions that are trustworthy, reliable and consistent,” said Marilyn Crouther, senior vice president and general manager, U.S. Public Sector, HP Enterprise Services. “FedRAMP authorization represents a critical milestone in HP’s efforts to deliver a secure converged cloud to our U.S. government clients, helping us establish strong partnerships and increase clients’ confidence in the security of their cloud systems.”

The HP ECS-VPC offering provides a robust security model for the underlying Cloud Support System and extends that security model to client systems through well-established, secure configuration baselines. These baselines are the cornerstone to providing secure and rapidly provisioned systems for agency deployment of hosted applications and services.

HP brings more than 45 years of experience securely managing government systems and is now one of the first cloud service providers to become authorized through FedRAMP’s rigorous assessment program. Customers can procure HP ECS-VPC for U.S. Public Sector through a selection of various procurement vehicles. Federal agencies can review the full authorization package by requesting access via FedRAMP.gov.
