The Los Angeles Dodgers and rookie sensation Yasiel Puig welcome in the National League East leading Atlanta Braves this weekend (June 6th-9th).  Puig, a Cuban-defector that the Dodgers paid $42 million to sign in the offseason has been compared to Bo Jackson due to his tremendous combination of size, speed, strength and power. In just his second major league game versus the Padres on Tuesday night Puig hit a double and two home runs, igniting the Dodgers crowd.  Puig’s first major league home run, a shot off of San Diego Padres starter Clayton Richard, traveled a majestic  443 feet. With the presence of Puig, the return of Hanley Ramirez and the emergence of Scott Van Slyke the Dodgers offense is poised to make a significant improvement as the season heads for it second half.  According to the Elias Sports Bureau Puig became the first Dodgers player with more than one homer in his first two career games and the first to have five RBIs in that span since Spider Jorgensen drove in six runs on April 17, 1947, against the Boston Braves.
 
Thursday Night (June 6th) the Dodgers will honor former pitching great and Hall of Famer Don Sutton with a bobblehead night. Friday’s game (June 7th) will feature the traditional Friday fireworks. The first 40,000 fans attending Saturday (June 8th) will be given a replica 1963 World Series Ring and get an opportunity to see the annual Dodgers old timer game.  Finally the weekend full of giveaways will culminate Sunday where kids in attendance will be given a Dodgers Kid’s compression sleave, just like the ones worn by the players.  Promotional items are available for the first 50,000 fans and while supplies last. Only one giveaway item per person will be given to the bearer of the ticket upon entering the stadium and the schedule is subject to change without notice.
