Lucent Technologies Opens New Global Network Operations Centre In Poland
JULY 28, 2006, Bydgoszcz, Poland – Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU) today announced that it has opened a new Global Network Operations Centre (GNOC) in Bydgoszcz, Poland, where Lucent already has a presence.
As part of Lucent’s services strategy for offering network transformation services to customers worldwide, the new GNOC, Lucent’s fifth GNOC online around the world, will provide a variety of remote network management and hosting services. Among these will be network monitoring, technical maintenance, service provisioning and hosted services. The Poland GNOC became operational in July 2006.
“This new GNOC is an exciting extension of our global network operations and managed services capabilities around the world”, says David Dial, vice president, Managed Services, Lucent Worldwide Services. “Network transformation services continue to generate significant interest as they help operators reduce operational costs, focus more on the needs of customers, and deliver high-quality, differentiated services.”
“The opening of a Polish GNOC is a vote of confidence Lucent is giving to the competency of our local networking experts and a positive sign for the Polish market,” says Andrzej Dulka, General Director Poland and Czech.
Lucent´s four other GNOCs are currently managing more than 40 different networks, from DSL to optical, IP and switched voice networks with hundreds of network elements; for a variety of customers, ranging from IP start-ups to incumbent network operators, enterprises and government agencies.
Through its worldwide GNOCs, Lucent Worldwide Services is providing network transformation services with a number of different scopes, such as full 24x7 or out of hours support. This means operators have significant flexibility to closely match services to demand, yet still reduce costs and improve the quality of operations with the guarantee of a service level agreement (SLA). Ad hoc services can also be provided, such as network operations center (NOC) backup to ensure minimal disruption in case of a disaster affecting their own NOC.
Lucent’s GNOCs can host or manage a variety of cost-reducing and cost-effective services, such as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), IP TV platforms, network security, real-time rating and charging, blended lifestyle applications, and messaging, as well as addressing business challenges of network operators and virtual services providers (e.g. MVNOs).
