Australians will be able to enjoy the convenience of a single 4G device following the launch of the Toshiba detachable Ultrabook - the Portégé Z10t which doubles as a laptop or tablet, on the Telstra Mobile Network.

The new Portégé Z10t is Australia’s first Windows® 8 Pro tablet with built-in 4G connectivity and is available exclusively through Telstra for three months from launch on 11 June. The Portégé Z10t comes with a detachable backlit keyboard dock and a powerful Intel processor, which makes it a convenient Ultrabook computer that transforms easily into a tablet.

The Portégé Z10t ensures people can get connected at home, in the office or on the road. The Windows 8 operating system allows customers to integrate their Windows applications, such as email, calendars and Office documents, between their home, office and when they are on the move. The use of Intel processing power combined with 4GB RAM and a 128GB solid state drive means performance as not been compromised.

“The Portégé Z10t running on the Telstra Mobile Network is the perfect solution for people who don’t want to juggle multiple devices. The Portégé Z10t’s versatility as both a tablet and a powerful PC eliminates the compromises faced with other offerings in the market such as network speed, device performance and simply, the number of devices you need to carry,” said Mark Whittard, Managing Director, Toshiba (Australia) Pty Limited.

“Consumers are, more than ever, using technology interchangeably at work or at home, for business and pleasure, and often tablets or PCs can’t provide the functionality needed for each purpose. This is why we developed the Portégé Z10t – to eradicate the choices and compromises and offer one device to suit every need,” Mr Whittard said.

Anthea Roberts, Director Telstra Mobile Broadband, said this launch marks a new era in mobile products where a laptop and tablet come together with high-speed 4G connectivity.

“The Portégé Z10t represents an exciting new era in mobile products for Telstra. The convergence of the tablet and laptop meets the growing demand for mobile devices that keep customers both productive and entertained. “

“Combining Australia’s largest and most reliable mobile network with Toshiba’s unique Portégé Z10t continues Telstra’s mission to provide innovative and practical technology solutions to customers for personal and business use.”

The Toshiba Portégé Z10t is Telstra’s 29th 4G LTE product and comes just days after Telstra switched on its 1,500th 4G base station. Telstra provides Australia’s largest 4Gcoverage and is on track to extend its 4G coverage to 66 per cent of the Australian population by the end of next month.
