WEBWIRE

iCargo goal is to reduce CO2 emissions by improving the efficiency of intermodal freight systems and to enhance intelligent systems for decision support

Madrid, - - Atos, an international IT services company, and its partners in the Intelligent Cargo (iCargo) European consortium, led by Atos, will have a significant presence in the Munich Transport Logistic Trade Fair (Germany) this year. The biannual Fair has become in the last three decades the major international event on Logistics, Mobility, IT and Supply Chain Management (www.transportlogistic.de/en). During the fair, iCargo partners organize the Workshop and Roundtable titled “Logistic Data Infrastructures: Challenges, Solutions and Business Models”, to be held on June 4th.

This Workshop is part of the dissemination and networking activities of the Consortium, and is targeted to industry experts and Public Administration interested in innovations in the “Logistics” field. From the iCargo perspective, “Logistics" is the link between the European economies, and is crucial to conduct business in the current international supply networks. At the same time, novel Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) provide new possibilities to capture, analyze and share data across the supply chain. Through an intelligent use of information, it is possible to maximize the potential of global logistics networks, reducing the underutilization of logistical resources and the ecological and economic impacts of this underutilization.

The workshop will emphasize the necessity for a common industrial effort on the European level to turn ICT innovations into sustainable practices leading to higher margins for the industry and cleaner and more environmental friendly Logistics operations for the society.

The goal of the iCargo Consortium is reducing CO2 emissions by improving the efficiency of intermodal freight systems and the enhancement of intelligent systems for decision support. The consortium, led by Atos, is composed of 29 organizations, including traders, associations, research centers and public authorities with experience in Logistics management and supply chain, as well as Information Technology and Communications.
