UK Healthcare, a major provider of personal and corporate health cash plans, and patron of Bolton Lads and Girls Club, donated money to the organisation during 2012. The Junior Youth Club continues to make a difference to the lives of young people in the northwest.

For more than 120 years, Bolton Lads and Girls Club has provided youngsters with a safe haven in which to spend their free time. During those early days, the concept was an innovative one. Now, youth centres are more commonplace, but the Club remains a special place, that the Bolton community could not afford to be without.

The Bolton Lads and Girls Club welcomes all young people, aged 8-21 years old (or up to 25 years old for youngster with disabilities), to take part in a variety of exciting programmes. From recreational opportunities and performing arts to a diverse array of sporting activities, the Club ensures that every young person thrives, regardless of their interests or their background.

Amongst the state of the art facilities available, visitors will find a fitness suite, sports hall, boxing gym and climbing wall. Creative youngsters will thrive in the arts and crafts area and performing arts studio, while the business leaders of tomorrow can access training, apprenticeships or further education, through the Enterprise Zone.

In addition to stimulating these youngsters, mentally and physically, the Club works hard to instil its core values in every visitor; shaping happy, caring and responsible young members of the community.

Around 3000 young people enjoy the Club’s various programmes every week but, importantly, they also enjoy access to care and support. At Bolton Lads and Girls Club, there’ll always be something to do, but crucially there’ll always be someone to talk to.

As part of the intensive mentoring services provided, the community’s at risk youths can receive guidance or training, through one-to-one sessions or group activities.
But as a registered charity, the Club relies upon donations from patrons, supporters and fundraising events. Without this support, the long running haven would be forced to close its doors for good.

UK Healthcare has supported the Bolton Lads and Girls Club for a number of years, helping the facility to maintain its modern facilities and continue to hold important community events such as the recent BLGC Anti-Bullying Nights.

As a major UK provider of personal and corporate health cash plans, UK Healthcare offers affordable policies allowing plan holders to claim back cash on a wide range of medical services, including dental and optical checkups, X-Rays, health screenings, medical prescriptions and hospital stays, up to agreed policy limits.

But the company also backs a variety of fantastic charities and healthcare institutions throughout the UK, including Bolton Lads and Girls Club. Last year, UK Healthcare raised more than £56,000 for worthwhile causes. It was a record breaking year of charity work, but one that they intend to improve upon further in 2013.
