Dialogue with stakeholders on sustainability

More than 7000 participants at the Earth University in Paris

On April 27, Henkel attended the 5th edition of the Earth University organized at UNESCO worldwide headquarters in Paris, France. Among the more than 7000 participants and 50 highly recognized experts, Uwe Bergmann and Sylvie Nicol from Henkel participated in two round-tables and shared the company’s strategy and perspective on the field of sustainability.

First held at UNESCO in 2005, the Earth University is a forum for exchanges and reflection on topics concerning ecology and economy – the 2013 edition of the forum followed the motto “The best is yet to come”. After an opening by Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Peace Price recipient in 2006, the forum featured 18 different discussions seeing 50 experts elaborating on recent and essential topics in the field of sustainability.

Uwe Bergmann, Head of Sustainability Management, shared a table with Philippe Germa, General Manager of WWF France, and Genevieve Ferone, Vice President of the sustainability think tank Shift Project. All three discussed the question “How do we build a society which reconciles economy and ecology?” and entered a lively dialogue with attending experts, students and citizens. Both a female and a management perspective on gender diversity at Henkel could be given by Sylvie Nicol. The General Manager of Henkel Beauty Care participated in the round table on “Gender diversity: towards a new harmony” and also engaged in a fruitful discussion with all stakeholders.
