Free mobile game for children teaches importance of protecting the planet and healthy eating

AUSTIN, Texas. - –With more than 1.8 million downloads in nearly 200 countries since its launch in April 2012, Awesome Eats now features 16 new levels of fun to help teach children that recycling and composting are just as important as healthy eating. New updates to the free mobile app from Whole Kids Foundation offer fun facts and tips to help teach families to learn to reduce, reuse and recycle together.

Players sort items into bins for recycling, compost or landfill to teach children about how their choices impact the environment. The app improvements also feature Game Center support with achievements and leader boards, new additions to the cast of more than 70 characters and iPhone 5 support.

Awesome Eats™ is available as a free iPhone and iPad download. The app invites kids of all ages to stock, pack and plate a rainbow of fresh-from-the-garden foods across different scenarios to win stars and score points. Between each of the 64 challenging levels, kids get loads of healthy eating tips and information.

Whole Kids Foundation, a Whole Foods Market® foundation, is based in Austin, Texas, and operates as an independent, nonprofit organization. By empowering schools and inspiring families, the Foundation aims to help improve childhood nutrition through programs including school salad bars, gardens and nutrition education for teachers.
