BT to Launch New BT.com Website

WEBWIRE

BT today announced it is launching a new version of BT.com which will combine news, web search and email access with account and billing information, for its BT Broadband customers in the UK.

The new BT.com website launches in June 2013 and will introduce a single log-in for customers, making it easier to access a range of account services including email, My BT, BT Cloud and BT Wi-fi. The site has been built to work on desktop computers, smartphones and tablets, reflecting the increasing use of devices by BT’s customers to access information and services.

Visitors to the new BT.com will be able to access their BT email accounts, check their online bill, view service updates or access online help and support. They will also benefit from a range of exclusive editorial, video and picture content across news, entertainment, technology and lifestyle. BT Sport, which launches this summer, will add a range of exciting exclusively live sports action to BT’s online experience.

Nick Wong, director of online at BT Retail Consumer, said: “The new BT.com website is part of BT’s commitment to help our customers get even more value out of the time they spend online. By combining the latest editorial content with easy access to all their BT online services we want to make things simple and enjoyable for our customers.”

BT is working with a number of partner organisations to deliver the new website, including global IT services provider Virtusa and hardware and software specialist Oracle (using the Oracle WebCenter Sites platform).

Editorial content including images and video will be provided by the Press Association, with a dedicated editorial team based in London supporting the site. Critical Path has been chosen to provide cloud email services for BT Consumer customers. BT is also running an online advertising sales tender process and will be announcing its chosen supplier very soon.
