April 22, 2013 – Bellevue, Wash. – UltraBac Software today announced the availability of UltraBac Version 9.3, UBDR Gold Version 7.0, and is pleased to introduce new file and image Linux backup agents.  While the new releases provide the same dependable data protection and system recovery, they have been supercharged to run up to 60 percent faster for all the supported Windows Operating Systems, including Windows 8 and Server 2012.  The new UltraBac Ux Agent provides file-by-file backup protection for a supported Linux server, while the new UltraBac Ux Image Agent creates an image snapshot of a supported Linux machine.  Using the Ux Image Agent’s bare metal restore technology, a failed server can be restored with just a few clicks of the mouse.  For those who want the benefit of using both file-by-file and image backup protection for their Linux server, the UltraBac Ux Bundle is available as a more cost effective solution.  A benefit of using the Ux Bundle is customers can restore individual files when that is all that is necessary, or perform a full bare metal recovery in just minutes when required.  A unique feature of both the Ux Image Agent and Ux Bundle is that only sectors marked “in-use” are backed up rather than every sector in a protected partition.  As an example, if a 2TB hard drive has a single partition with 500GB of sectors marked in-use, only those files will be backed up.  This completely eliminates having to back up the other 1.5TB of unused space.  The new UltraBac Linux products initially support OpenSUSE, Red Hat, and SLES with other versions of Linux to follow.

“We are pleased to offer innovative backup protection for the Linux platform.  Users will find bandwidth and time savings with the ability to back up in-use files only,” said Morgan Edwards, founder and CEO of UltraBac Software.  “Looking to the future, in addition to our current host based agent-less data protection and system recovery software for VMware’s vSphere, we are targeting the release of a new virtual agent to protect unlimited Microsoft Hyper-V guest machines in the next two months.”

This release also provides support for an unlimited number of virtual machines hosted on vSphere 5.1, and an UltraCopy Backup Migration Tool.  The migration tool automatically sends a copy of your mission critical backups to a secondary off-site location.  Users can then manage and monitor multiple device backup migrations from one central location.

UltraBac Version 9.3, UBDR Gold Version 7.0, and the Linux products are available now.  The introductory list price for the new UltraBac Ux Agent is $495 USD, and $695 USD for the new UltraBac Ux Image Agent.  Both products include first year maintenance coverage.  For extra cost savings, the introductory list price of the UltraBac Ux Bundle is $1125 USD and also includes first year maintenance and support.
