Speedo, the world’s leading swimwear brand has unveiled two-time Olympic champion, Cullen Jones, as its latest brand ambassador.

The multi-year partnership will see Jones wear Speedo swimwear and equipment during competition until 2017, including at this year’s 15th FINA World Championships in Barcelona.

A mainstay of the USA sprint relay teams, Jones enjoyed a hugely successful 2012 Olympics, claiming Gold in the 4x100 Medley and Silver in the 4x100m Freestyle. He also secured an individual podium place, after finishing second in the 50m Freestyle.

These triumphs followed on from his first Olympic title at Beijing 2008, when Jones was part of the team which eased to victory in the 4x100m Freestyle.

As part of the new agreement, Jones will partner with Speedo on a series of initiatives to highlight the importance of swimming as a life skill.

As an ambassador for Speedo’s ‘Learn To Swim’ collection in the USA, Jones will become the face of the complete collection of swimwear, equipment and teaching aids for children aged 0-3, helping to develop basic swimming skills and confidence in the water.

The 29-year-old has first-hand experience of the importance of learning to swim, having almost drowned at the age of five, and is a pivotal player in the USA Swimming Foundation’s ‘Make A Splash’ campaign, which works to reduce the drowning rate of minority youths throughout America.

Speedo will also support Jones’ efforts to grow swimming among minority groups in America with Cullen’s Diversity Meet, an annual elite swimming event for American minority swimmers.
On becoming a Speedo ambassador, Jones said:
“I am very excited to be a part of the Speedo family. I appreciate their support as I continue to race and in my work to educate kids and parents about how important it is to learn to swim"

Sean Hastings, Vice President of Product and Marketing, Speedo International, said:
“Speedo’s passion is to inspire people to swim, and there is no better advocate of swimming as a life skill than Cullen Jones.
“From a near-death experience at the age of five to a double Olympic Champion, Cullen is living proof of the unique value of swimming. We look forward to working closely with him to help continue this great work, whilst also achieving yet more success in competitive swimming.”
