Essex Auto Group team members raise the bar for local charities

As a family firm that has been operating in Essex since 1989, Essex Auto Group has developed a firm presence in the community. “Getting involved” is part of our company ethos and, given that we employ around 300 people from the area, we’re never short of charitable ideas.
Recently staff from Essex Auto Group raised £1,148.40 for “Sober Friends”, a group of friends based in South Essex who teamed up to support Cancer Research UK. The 10 “Sober Friends” gave up alcohol during January 2013, after the parents of two of the group’s members passed away because of brain tumours.
The team spent their time promoting awareness of the cause on the high streets of Essex, and they raised almost £7,000. Stuart Bennett, an employee of Essex Ford, managed to raise over £2,000, and he was helped by the company placing collection boxes at their service reception counters.
Each £1 that was raised was matched by parent company Essex Auto Group, and Philip Maskell, chairman and managing director, said: “I am delighted that one of our employees has carried out this selfless act and raised money for such a poignant charity. It was particularly pleasing to see Stuart Bennett achieve such a good result, but I congratulate the team on their collective efforts.”
The concept of community is of huge importance to Essex Auto Group, and we are proud to be able to encourage a vibrant, friendly and charitable local atmosphere. Throughout 2012 we helped three members of the Royal Navy to raise money in support of Help for Heroes, and we also sponsor Essex Cricket Club, and Southend United.
