New Agility Web Services API Enables Seamless Integration with Enterprise Systems

STERLING, VA, July 25, 2006 – Anystream, the leading provider of multiplatform publishing solutions to the media industry, today announced the availability of the Agility Web Services API™. The new solution uses web services technology to permit the Agility digital media production and publishing system to be tightly integrated with the business and operations support systems used to manage, schedule, store, track, protect, broadcast, sell and distribute media assets. Through this integration, media and entertainment companies are able to streamline operations, improve efficiency, reduce costs and satisfy the exploding consumer demand for content.

“At Blue Order, we launched a program called ‘Capitalize Your Media’ to provide the broadcast world with a cost-efficient, integrated end-to-end solution for managing digital media,” said Dr Axel Hess, Director of Software Engineering. “Anystream’s Agility Web Services API played an important role in this effort by simplifying the integration with our Media Archive® MAM platform and shortening our time to market.”

APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) allow service requests and information exchange between computer programs. Media companies rely upon a core of enterprise systems, including asset management, broadcast automation, rights management and archives, to manage the flow of content from acquisition to distribution. The Agility Web Services API provides industry-standard XML-based SOAP and REST interfaces that enable Agility to communicate with the core enterprise systems.

“IBM, an advocate of open-system application development for the media and entertainment industry, applauds Anystream’s use of industry-standard Web services interfaces as a way to facilitate media companies’ transition to IT-based digital media production, management and distribution,” said Dick Anderson, General Manager, IBM Digital Media Services. “This design philosophy is fully complementary with the IBM Open Digital Media Framework,” Anderson said.

“APIs based on Web services technology are changing the way companies do business. Amazon.com and FedEx provide APIs that enable e-commerce partners to access product pricing, inventory status and shipping details. In the same way, the Agility Web Services API allows media companies to more easily integrate their systems and implement highly efficient, automated digital media production and publishing operations,” said Bill Thompson, Director Broadband Media Products, Anystream. “As a result, media companies can more easily and cost effectively keep up with the growing consumer demand for content.”

Anystream Agility enables media companies to overcome the challenges associated with producing ever-increasing amounts of content with multiplatform publishing capabilities, automatic, template driven operation, massively scalable high throughput output capabilities, seamless integration with BSS and OSS systems and reliable, fault-tolerant operation. As a result, Agility customers can produce more content at less cost than ever before. Media companies all over the world rely on Agility as a critical element in all parts of the content value chain including film and television production, post-production, over-the-air broadcast, cable television, live web streaming, free and subscription web video, mobile phone video services, IPTV services and emerging ad-supported or purchase-to-watch download services.
