Author’s Haunted House To Be Featured on A&E BIO’s “My Ghost Story” This Weekend

Author J. Kabay’s haunted house will be featured on Bio’s hit show My Ghost Story this weekend. My Ghost Story shows compelling evidence of the paranormal as told by the people who lived through it. Kabay and her husband, muralist Christopher Barnett, learned after buying their home that locals called it the “Bone Yard.”

“We went ahead with the purchase,” said Kabay, assuming it was local legend. But she was wrong. “Right away things got weird. Books flew off shelves. Strange faces appeared in my photos. People felt scared in my home,” she explained. Only later she learned that former residents found an actual grave marker on the property in 1993.

Kabay admits the haunting affected the writing in her debut novel, Minder.

“One night, the edge of my mattress sank down. Right next to me. Just like a grown person had taken a seat,” said Kabay. “There I was, alone in my room, trying to write a nice children’s book, scared out of my mind. The story got dark—I couldn’t help it.”

Dark or not, Minder is thrilling the public. Kindle reported over 9,000 downloads in February alone, peaking in metaphysical, fantasy, and young-adult fiction categories. Over 70 readers have rewarded Minder a 5 STAR average.

Minder really got into my head,” writes one Amazon reviewer. “I dreamed about it. It haunted me. I fell in love (with a dragon). I cried. I experienced love, anger, acceptance, empathy, and comfort. It’s been a long time since a book really got to me. I refuse to believe this book was meant for children.”

Viewers, grab your blankie and tune in this weekend. My Ghost Story is popular for its true, astonishing evidence of the paranormal. “We had ample evidence to give them,” laughed Kabay.

Watch Kabay’s episode of “My Ghost Story” tomorrow at 8pm CST on Bio.
