Verizon Expands In-Language Assistance to Korean-Speaking Customers in Three States in the East


Company Reinforces Commitment to Multicultural Customers

July 24, 2006, NEW YORK - Verizon has expanded its in-language customer-service assistance to Korean-speaking customers in three more states -- New Jersey, Delaware and Pennsylvania.

With this expansion, more Korean-speaking customers in the East can speak to a Verizon representative in their own language to order products and services or get information. Previously, Verizon offered assistance in Korean to customers in the West and Northeast. The company is planning to further expand the service soon to Korean-speaking customers in the Washington, D.C., area.

“Verizon is committed to serving all of our diverse customers,” said Jeff McFarland, director for multicultural marketing for Verizon. “We are excited to be able to provide this level of customer service to our Korean customers in three more states.”

Clare Fang, group manager for multicultural marketing for Verizon, said, “At Verizon, we understand that some times it’s just easier to conduct business in your own language, and we want to extend that option to as many customers as possible.”

Verizon will provide the expanded service from its Multilingual Sales and Service Center in Queens. In select areas, the multilingual center also provides assistance in Korean for small- to medium-sized business customers.

Verizon offers an array of communications, broadband and entertainment products. Recently, Verizon began offering FiOS TV, which delivers hundreds of digital video and music channels, high-definition programming, video-on-demand content, a robust interactive programming guide and other customer-friendly features. For over a decade, Verizon has provided in-language sales representatives to support customers in Spanish, Russian, Chinese and Vietnamese, in addition to Korean. Today, more than 1,000 employees staff 13 Verizon consumer multicultural sales and solution centers in various parts of the country, communicating with customers in their native languages.
