KORTRIJK, BELGIUM/ATLANTA, GA, USA - July 21, 2006 - Scientific Atlanta, a Cisco company, today announced that Casema BV, a leading cable operator in the Netherlands, has expanded its deployment of Scientific Atlanta® technology to include the company’s new Digital Content Manager (DCM) and advanced multiplexers.

Casema, which chose a Scientific Atlanta iLYNXTM platform to create an extensive video backbone across its service area in 2002 and 2003, also selected multiple model D9655TM multiplexers from Scientific Atlanta for the new headend. These advanced multiplexers, along with several DCMs, are already in service for Casema, creating a redundant digital headend to serve its 1.4 million subscribers across its service area in the western region of the Netherlands. Additionally, Scientific Atlanta’s EMEA SciCareTM Professional Services group of systems integration experts provided installation, commissioning, configuration and training to deliver a complete end-to-end digital headend solution for Casema.

“We needed a robust, flexible digital headend to help deliver the reliable service our customers expect when they choose Casema as their video entertainment provider,” said Andrei Noppe, vice president of network operations at Casema BV. “The new Scientific Atlanta digital headend system will provide extensive digital video processing power via the DCM to assist in the support of Casema’s current video services and help provide a platform for offering expanded services in the future.”

Scientific Atlanta’s Digital Content Manager is an extremely dense platform that delivers advanced technology to help launch and manage digital services, while supporting the freedom and flexibility for operational needs. The DCM can help:

* Manage all digital video services; one to more than 1,500 streams in a compact 2RU chassis

* Optimize and manage available network bandwidth

* Deliver more programs over less bandwidth while maintaining video quality

* Generate new revenue with ad insertion opportunities

“Clearly, the launch of digital video is changing the way people watch TV,” said Bart Spriester, managing director of Transmission Networks for Scientific Atlanta in Europe. “New services and interactive applications provide operators with an increasing spectrum of revenue opportunities. Scientific Atlanta products, such as the DCM and our advanced multiplexers, provide the technology solutions to help respond to the marketplace’s fast-paced changes and opportunities.”
