The new Mazda6, now available in Edinburgh

The new Mazda6 was launched in the United Kingdom in January and is rapidly proving to be a popular choice in both the family and corporate marketplace. With high fuel economy figures achievable, and low CO2 emissions, the Mazda6 has been awarded the What Car? magazine’s Ultra-low-carbon Car of the Year award for 2013.

The original ideas behind its “Kodo – Soul of Motion” design concept came from studying wild animals like the cheetah and the Mazda6 seeks to replicate their appearance. From its eye-catching front grille and prominent bumpers, through its powerful-looking shoulders to its low rear-leaning cabin, the Mazda6 looks strong and agile. With a lighter frame manufactured from ultra-high tensile steel, the Mazda6 has improved performance and manoeuvrability. It has a new dynamic look about it, even when motionless.

The new Mazda6 can be purchased as a Saloon or five-door Tourer estate. Both versions have three equipment grades, an entry-level SE, the SE-L and the Sport. With five passengers on board, the Tourer will accommodate 506 litres of luggage. When the rear seats are folded flat, luggage capacity increases to 1,648 litres. Rear-seat passengers are given nearly one metre of legroom, and drivers will find all the primary control functions conveniently positioned within easy reach. With safety being of primary importance, the new Mazda6 comes with a top EuroNCAP five-star safety rating.

The Mazda6 is powered by 143bhp and 163bhp, 2.0-litre petrol engines, or by 148bhp and 173bhp, 2.2-litre diesel engines. Six-speed automatic and manual transmissions are available which, when combined with the new SKYACTIV technology, can produce combined fuel efficiency figures as high as 67.3 MPG. CO2 emissions can similarly be as low as the award-winning figure of 108g/km. Acceleration performance figures for the 173bhp diesel engine are an impressive 0-62mph in just 7.9 seconds.
Motorists interested in building number plate messages should note that, if they purchase and register their Mazda6 before the end of September, they will get a coveted “13” (“B”) licence plate.

Based in Midlothian, Edinburgh and West Lothian, Western Mazda offers a warm welcome to anyone interested in purchasing the new Mazda6. As an approved Mazda dealership, we can offer genuine Mazda parts and servicing, together with our bodyshop and accident repair centres. A member of their dedicated team said, ”We will be delighted to offer all potential Mazda6 customers the very best possible help and service.” For further information on this award-winning car, visit the Western Mazda or main Mazda websites today.
