Fortune Magazine Global 500 Names Siemens the Number One Electronics and Electrical Equipment Maker

New York, Jul 21, 2006, Siemens, the global infrastructure and electrical engineering company, has again been ranked one of the world’s top 500 companies by Fortune Magazine. Based on revenues, the publication’s Global 500 listed Siemens as the 22nd largest company overall and number one in the category of electronics and electrical equipment.

With its primary areas of business focused on energy and the environment, infrastructure and industry, and healthcare, Siemens reported worldwide sales of $96 billion for the fiscal year ending September 2005.

Over the past year, Siemens has grown organically through new product innovation and is the fifth largest corporate spender in research and development in the world. Siemens also has grown through strategic acquisition, having invested more than 9 billion euros in the past 18 months on 30 acquisitions in the areas of medical imaging, clean-coal technology, pollution control, wind power, and water technologies.
