EXHIBITOR Magazine’s 2013 Economic Outlook Survey: Exhibitors Hopeful Despite Lingering Recession Impact

Budget Cuts Remain but Optimism Reigns

ROCHESTER, MN – February 28, 2013 – EXHIBITOR Media Group, the leader in trade show and corporate event marketing education, today announced the results of EXHIBITOR magazine’s 2013 Economic Outlook Survey, which indicate exhibitors remain hopeful this year will produce better returns than 2012. 
 
While 24 percent of exhibitors have smaller trade show budgets in 2013 than in 2012, 30 percent are enjoying larger budgets, and an additional 46 percent are maintaining last year’s allocations. However, 19 percent of respondents anticipate that a portion of their trade show budget may be reallocated to other marketing activities this year.  Yet more than 81 percent reported feeling “confident” or “extremely confident” that their trade show programs will achieve better results in 2013 than in 2012.
 
“As much as we hate to admit it, the Great Recession may be over, but it’s still impacting our lives and our industry,” commented Travis Stanton, editor, EXHIBITOR magazine.  “But it’s worth noting that when asked how exhibitors feel about the effectiveness of trade shows as a marketing medium, 83 percent reported being optimistic or at the very least hopeful.”
