Cheltenham Festival Target Likely to be Grand Annual Chase for Viva Colonia

WEBWIRE

22nd February 2013 – London, UK : The horse ’Viva Colonia’ owned by Bolingbroke and Merseyside racing and trained by Brian Ellison is increasingly likely to run in the Grand Annual Chase at the Cheltenham Festival this year.

The Cheltenham Festival looms large and racing stables across Britain and Ireland are making final preparations for their potential equine stars. With only eighteen days until the tapes go up on Tuesday 12th March 2013, it is nearing the time when connections of all horses consider the final race targets for each runner.

Viva Colonia is seemingly heading towards the Grand Annual Chase which is raced on the Friday of the Cheltenham Festival. This supremely competitive handicap race was won last year by Bellvano and in 1998 by the great Edredon Bleu.

Lee Bolingbroke the owner of Viva Colonia said “If one of either Overturn or Simonsig had a set back we might consider the Arkle Chase, however it is looking increasingly likely that Viva Colonia will race for us in the Grand Annual Chase on the Friday. Viva Colonia was always going to be better over fences and is a very exciting prospect indeed.”

Lee then went on to say “He took time to settle in with Brian Ellison during December. He didn’t eat a great deal initially but since his two recent wins he has been screaming for his food and is bouncing at home which is a major plus.”

By all accounts it would seem this horse is coming right just in time to do himself justice at the Cheltenham Festival in the biggest race of his life. The horse’s trainer Brian Ellison said “He is a very good horse and would be by best chance of a Cheltenham Festival winner since Latalomne. He has so much speed and is a natural jumper”.

For anyone still wishing to attend the Cheltenham Festival Lee made a point to note that anyone to ’like’ his Facebook page would be in with a chance of winning tickets to see his horse run. Lee is giving away free tickets, champagne and a chance to meet the trainer and jockey of Viva Colonia on race day at the festival.  www.facebook.com/LbrHorseRacingTips

Viva Colonia is a best priced 16/1 chance for this competitive race over 2m 100y. One thing is for sure the connections of Viva Colonia certainly think the Grand Annual Chase is the best possible target this year at the Cheltenham Festival.
