Joint News Release

February 21, 2013

HARTFORD, CT and PHILADELPHIA, PA – ConnectiCare Specialty Services, a ConnectiCare, Inc. affiliate, announced today that it has completed an exclusive agreement with SAGE Scholars to begin offering the College Tuition Rewards program during 2013.

College Tuition Rewards® helps to address a major source of stress for Connecticut families: the rising cost of higher education. Participants can earn college tuition discounts for their children or other family members – up to one full year’s tuition – at more than 300 private colleges and universities across 45 states that participate in the SAGE Scholars consortium. The maximum discount varies by college -- but the average is currently more than $40,000. There is no additional cost for customers to participate in the program, and no additional cost for employers to offer it.

Customers will receive an initial 1,000 tuition points, which they may distribute among their enrolled children, as well as grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. The children are then awarded between 500 and 1,000 additional points on each birthday that they participate in the program. The tuition points can be redeemed at 1 point = $1 toward tuition at any of the participating schools.

SAGE Scholars will offer the opportunity to join the College Tuition Rewards program at the time of the customer’s health insurance enrollment or renewal with ConnectiCare, for effective dates on or after April 1, 2013.

“This program represents a more holistic approach to our customers’ overall well being,” said Michelle Zettergren, Senior V.P., Chief Sales & Marketing Officer for ConnectiCare, Inc. “Saving for college is stressful for many Connecticut families, which can affect their emotional and physical health. We are thrilled to help our customers by making available through SAGE Scholars and Connecticare Specialty Services a way to build tuition points toward a college education at no additional cost.”

“We are pleased to have ConnectiCare Specialty Services as the exclusive healthcare provider offering our College Tuition Rewards program in Connecticut,” said James B. Johnston, Ed.D., Chairman and CEO of SAGE Scholars. “The ability to build tuition points not only for your children, but also for extended family, is an incredible opportunity.”

More than 250,000 students nationally are enrolled in the SAGE Scholars Tuition Rewards program, which began in 1997.

ConnectiCare does not insure or guarantee the College Tuition Rewards® program nor is the College Tuition Rewards® program offered as part of ConnectiCare health benefits plans.
