Highland Associates Projects Featured in Design Publications

WEBWIRE

New York, NY - Highland Associates, a multi-disciplined architectural and engineering design firm  recently had two projects published in three different design books.  Both projects featured are corporate offices, one for Playboy Enterprises and the second for Elizabeth Arden.

The first book to feature a Highland project was a book published by author Linda O’Keeffe, titled Stripes: Design Between the Lines.  In it, writer and design expert Linda O’Keeffe explores the lineage of lines as they shape culture, art, and style.  The illustrations create a rollicking visual ride while the accompanying text shows how these potent, sometimes-charged symbols have even changed the course of world history. The featured Highland Associates project is Playboy Enterprises Corporate Office, located in New York City. Highland was selected to renovate Playboy Enterprises’ office through a design competition among several leading NYC architectural firms.  The project objective was a complete facility re-design, totaling 60,000 square feet that would represent Playboy’s future by emphasizing the many elements of its current business.

The second publication is Interior Design Best of Office, a hardcover book featuring more than 60 leading projects in workplace design today, from corporate headquarters and private trading floors to design studios and law offices. Highland’s project, Elizabeth Arden’s Corporate Office in Stamford, CT, has the distinction of being featured on the cover of this book.  This award winning project is a 50,000 sq. ft. build out and rebranding.  Using beauty products as metaphors for the space, Highland created tinted conference rooms meant to reflect perfume bottles. A 40 foot curving acrylic wall made with 8,000 real makeup brushes was also created and can be viewed from the reception area. Supergraphics of product shots were used across the building atrium giving the space color and energy.

Finally, the third publication featuring Highland’s work is titled, Architecture: The People, Places, and Ideas Driving Contemporary Design. Over the past year, Design Bureau has reviewed thousands of innovative architecture projects. They have run the gamut in terms of shape, size, and scope, but they all share one common principle: smart design underpins their overall intent.  Once again, the Elizabeth Arden Corporate Office project is selected as a stand out and featured under the heading, “Office Glam.”
