Thomson Prometric Signs Contract with Abu Dhabi General Authority for Health Services

Baltimore, MD, 07/19/2006, Thomson Prometric, the global leader in assessment services, and part of The Thomson Corporation (NYSE: TOC; TSX: TOC), today announced a new exclusive five-year contract to provide test development and delivery services to the General Authority for Health Services (GAHS) in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. Thomson Prometric will develop ten medical specialty licensure exams which will be administered in computer-based format and offered at Thomson Prometric testing centers worldwide.

GAHS has faced a logistical challenge in administering its licensure exams in an efficient and cost-effective manner as more than 80% of the UAE healthcare workforce have emigrated from another country. Under current conditions, medical professionals looking to work in the UAE must travel to Abu Dhabi to take their required exam. Moving forward, Thomson Prometric’s global test center network will provide employers flexibility to ensure prospective healthcare practitioners meet GAHS licensing standards before incurring expenses to transport candidates to Abu Dhabi. In addition, Thomson Prometric’s extensive test development experience and its commitment to the global professional accreditation market were significant in GAHS’ decision-making process.
