Chicago Housing Authority Hosts Mold Prevention and Removal Workshop

The Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) is the largest owner of rental housing in the city of Chicago. It also oversees the administration of 37,000 Housing Choice vouchers that allow low-income families to rent in the private market. The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program successfully provides low-income families affordable housing opportunities in the private market due, in large part, to a strong partnership with its participating property owners and managers.
 
In an effort to recognize and reward those property owners and managers who have exceptional property management skills and show a high level of dedication to both their property and their tenants, CHA has developed the Owner Excellence Program which offers numerous benefits to those who qualify. One of these benefits includes free continuing education workshops to all Owner Excellence Program Members to encourage their further development as property owners and managers.
 
The CHA’s Owner Excellence Program hosted a workshop on January 23rd that provided information about mold prevention, mold removal and the health effects of building occupants exposed to high concentrations of mold.  Mr. Ballard from Mold Solutions Chicago and Mr. Heller from FastMoldRemoval.com shared their knowledge and experiences working to prevent human exposure to mold.
