ContentKeeper Announces Launch of Next-Generation Secure Internet Gateway for K-12

WEBWIRE

Orlando, FL, United States (January 29, 2013) – Internet filtering and Web security vendor ContentKeeper Technologies announced the U.S. launch of its new Secure Internet Gateway (SIG) solution today, the opening day of the Florida Education Technology Conference (FETC) 2013.

The launch of the Secure Internet Gateway marks a key milestone for education organizations looking for a real solution to address today’s new Web security threats. It represents the unification of next generation Web filtering with advanced on-demand malware behaviour analysis and comprehensive Internet use reporting in one high performance solution. The Secure Internet Gateway is the culmination of over three years of development and represents the very latest in Web security and policy compliance technology.

“We selected the FETC 2013 conference to make this announcement to show the significance of the SIG solution for next-gen learning environments,” said ContentKeeper CEO, David Wigley.

“The Secure Internet Gateway is highly suited for the protection and management of any large organization’s IT systems. But, the evolving challenges of BYOD, granular social media controls and CIPA compliance facing today’s learning environments give the Secure Internet Gateway special relevance for educators and administrators. Many of the exciting new features and capabilities of the SIG were developed with a focus on the IT requirements of schools and districts and with their direct input,” continued Mr. Wigley.

The Solution includes:

  • CIPA compliant filtering and reporting for desktops and mobile devices including smart phones and tablets on or off the school network.
  • Granular social media controls providing safe and secure use of social networking sites in the classroom.
  • Non-proxy based SSL/HTTPS decoding providing full scanning of web traffic and allowing proactive protection against anonymous proxies, cyber-bullying and unknown malware threats.
  • Advanced proactive analysis-based malware detection ensuring robust protection against new, previously unknown, Web-based threats immune to signature-based detection.

“We are struggling with a range of new security challenges such as managing social media, contending with a proliferation of web-enabled devices and BYOD requirements and securing our network against a new wave of Web security threats and browser-based vulnerabilities. We appreciate ContentKeeper’s revolutionary approach to security and network management especially with today’s strapped budgets and resources,” says Joe Coccimiglio, Director or Technology, at Poquoson City Public Schools.

ContentKeeper has been providing CIPA compliant Web filtering technology to schools since 1998 and is now used to protect over four million Web users globally. To mark the launch of the Secure Internet Gateway, Mr Wigley also announced details of a special ContentKeeper Donation Program in the United States to provide free Web filtering services to 10 deserving districts who service a population of at-risk kids.

“We wish to recognize the value that education plays in our communities and the significance that technology plays in teaching 21st century skills. We believe that all schools should have access to the very best technology protection available, regardless of the size of their budgets. That is why we are donating our Web filtering technology to 10 of the most deserving districts that may otherwise not have the resources to acquire our solutions,” explained Mr. Wigley.

Districts that wish to be considered for the ContentKeeper Donation Program can learn more about the program and apply online at www.contentkeeper.com/k12/donationprogram.

ContentKeeper also announced the launch of a new North American channel partner program to reflect the company’s growing focus on the U.S. and the K-12 market.

“We are actively recruiting new channel partners across the U.S. and offering generous margin incentives that offer resellers more than any other Web security vendor. We are also launching new marketing initiatives and resources to help our partners educate customers about the benefits of the Secure Internet Gateway and the unique future-proof ability of the SIG to meet tomorrows Web security requirements, today,” said Mr. Wigley.
