Dan Corby, CEO and founder of 118trades has announced some major expansion plans with the opening of a new call centre in Chelmsford and the creation of 400 new jobs. 118trades is a leading directory service of tradespeople and businesses where their references have been checked by the company prior to publishing. 118trades is available on-line at www.118trades.com and also through a free to use 24 hour directory enquiry line on 0800 247 118 4.

The service has already signed up 40,000 members, which Dan Corby says “is a drop in the ocean of what we are capable of acheiving”

“The new call centre in Chelmsford, which is due to open in September will house an additional 400 staff as the business builds up its presence in the UK. 118trades currently covers around 70% of the population and we are aiming to have 90% coverage by December 2006” added Dan

118trades has a small call centre in India, working in the high tech region of Calcutta, which is now home to thousands of call centres and high tech software firms. Dan visited Calcutta in 2005 and was ’amazed’ at the sheer size of the growth Calcutta has witnessed in the last few years with some of the biggest global names now having bases there.

118trades is completely committed to the UK, with 98% of its people working and based there, the balance working off shore in Calcutta.
