NTCís Steel Magnolias, directed by Norman A. Hall, Opens Feb 15th at St. Vincentís School for Boys

Novato Husband and Wife Team, Norman A. and Shirley Nilsen Hall,
Return To Direct and Act in Steel Magnolias for Second Time

WEBWIRE – Wednesday, January 09, 2013

(San Rafael, CA) The Novato Theater Company (NTC) presents the comedy/drama Steel Magnolias. The quintessential story of friendship and trust, serves up a southern slice of life thatís as warm and comforting as sweet potato pie.

In the world of Truvyís local-homegrown beauty salon, six very different women come together to share their secrets, fears and love for one another while engaging in hysterical and neighborly gossip. From weddings to divorces, babies to funerals, new beginnings and happy endings, they share each moment in their lives with grace, determination, and perfectly coiffed hair. When tragedy strikes, it is in the familiar comfort of Truvyís salon where they seek the solace and support that carries them through.

The play is based closely on the book by Robert Harling, and popularized by the film adaptation with Julia Roberts. Steel Magnoliaís is even more heart felt when seen performed in a live theater.

Husband and wife team Norman A. and Shirley Nilsen Hall, both Novato residents, have been with the NTC and North Bay theater community for many years. They have teamed up again to remix the 1992 production they did of the same play. In that effort, Norman directed Shirley as Truvy, she will now be playing Ouiser, Karen Clancy now taking the role of Truvy, played Annelle in the 1989 production, and Susan Zelinsky, who then played Shelby, will now be playing MíLynn.† †Show producers are Brenda Weidner and Michele Cronin.
