As the world celebrated the New Year last week, many professionals reviewed the past year’s achievements and made resolutions for 2013.  A popular resolution for many industrial hygiene professionals includes advancing their career by obtaining the highly coveted CIH certification.

The CIH has been the gold standard of occupational hygiene certification for more than 50 years, attaining uncompromised integrity, global recognition and career-lasting value.  The CIH is held only by an elite group of professionals and provides the credential that allows an Industrial Hygienist to stand out from the crowd.

The American Board of Industrial Hygiene has developed a straightforward path to obtain the CIH certification.  The first step is to review a person’s eligibility which can be determined in a matter of minutes using a self-assessment tool. ABIH can then help each person customize a path for closing requirement gaps, if any.  Once this step has been completed, the application process only requires educational transcripts, two professional references and a small application fee.  Those planning to take the spring exam need to submit all application materials by February 1st.  August 1st is the deadline for people planning to take the fall exam.

“ABIH has made the CIH application process simple and has outlined the necessary requirements and due dates for Industrial Hygienists planning on applying for the CIH certification in 2013,” reported Tracy Parsons, CIH, Administrative Program Manager at ABIH.  “Interested parties can find all the necessary information at the ABIH website at Become Certified (http://www.abih.org/become-certified).”

ABIH has also released a video about the benefits of achieving the CIH that can be viewed at: http://www.abih.org/abih-video
